ILNP: Purple Plasma

Tuesday, February 21, 2017 Unknown 0 Comments

Hey guys! Today I have ILNP Purple Plasma to show you! If you're a little confused by the round bottle it's because I bought my bottle oh - about three or so years ago. So it's in the old style bottle. :) Multichromes are what first brought me to ILNP, but they make some amazingly gorgeous holos too!

Purple Plasma is an electric purple linear holographic polish with a fuchsia shimmer. Those of you who read my blog on a regular know by now that I am a lover of purples. This was one of those shades I had sitting in my drawer that I forgot how much I loved. It's such a gorgeous, vibrant shade of violet. Application is easy peasy as this is a creamy, deeply pigmented polish. Opaque in one coat, but more depth with two coats and zero application issues. Shown below is two coats with a glossy top coat.

Love this polish! You can really see the fuchsia shimmer flecks in the macro shot! I also think it's worth noting that when I took these photos I had already been wearing this polish for three days. I do have some tip wear on my dominant hand, but it's minimal. ILNP makes really lovely polishes at an affordable price. You can get this one for $10 on their website. What do you think of this polish? Do you own any other ILNP? Let me know in the comments!

Emily de Molly: February Releases

Thursday, February 09, 2017 Unknown 0 Comments

Hey y'all! Today I've got the new Emily de Molly shades that will be releasing this month! I'm really excited about this collection, it's super gorgeous! There are six new shades releasing this month and this collection definitely has something to offer everyone! Let's jump right into the swatches then, shall we?

Distant Moon (indoors with daylight bulbs)
Distant Moon is charcoal taupe linear holo with a strong copper/bronze flash. I really love the way this polish looks on me! Definitely right up my alley and the formula on this is excellent! Super creamy and fully opaque at two thin coats. Shown below is two thin coats with a glossy top coat.

Escape Artist (indoors with daylight bulbs)
Escape Artist is a spring green that leans yellow with a strong gold shimmer. This color really surprised me with how nice it looks on me. Yellowish colors of any sort tend to pull terribly on me. This one doesn't though and that makes me tremendously happy. This applies smoothly and is fully opaque in two coats. Shown below is two coats with a glossy top coat.

*Disclaimer* The macro for this is slightly color inaccurate and looks like a darker green. I think this is due to it not picking up the gold shimmer as much and the lighting being slightly darker I turned off one of my lamps for it because the photos kept getting washed out or had a horrible glare. The green you see in the other two photos is an accurate representation of the polish.

External Links (indoors with daylight bulbs)
External Links is a bright cobalt blue jelly with shifting iridescent glitters and an aqua shimmer. This is the only jelly of the bunch this release and it's a stunner! Formula was good on this one too, but the glitters can make application a bit tricky at times if you struggle with glitter placement (wait for each coat to DRY before doing the next - this helps so much I swear). I did three thin coats for this one instead of two just to make sure I had full opacity in photos. This would probably be fine opacity wise by most people's standards at two coats, but I'm neurotic like that. Shown below is three coats plus two coats of top coat. Those iridescent glitters are topcoat hungry.

Looks Can Kill (indoors with daylight bulbs)
Looks Can Kill is a rose gold with a strong green/gold shimmer. This was another surprising one for me. I wasn't sure this one was going to look goon on me either and it ended up being one of my favorites from the collection! Another one with excellent formula, this is creamy and fully opaque in two coats. Shown below is two coats with a glossy top coat.

The Tenth Running (indoors with daylight bulbs)
The Tenth Running is a baby blue with various holo glitters and a pink shimmer. I love this polish, it's so pretty and delicate looking. Application was great on this one too, no issues with glitters or anything. Applied smoothly and was opaque in two coats. Shown below is two coats with a glossy top coat.

Okay, so here's the scoop. If you aren't already aware, Emily de Molly has two separate websites for ordering, an Australian website and an US/International website. These were scheduled to release for everyone yesterday, but the shipment for the US distribution was delayed and thus the release date for US/International orders has been delayed as well.

What: February New Releases
Where: Australian Website/US/International Website
When: Currently available on the Australian website, US/International is tentatively slated for release on Wednesday, February 15th at 6PM EST

Glam Polish: February Heroes vs. Villains GPF Exclusives

Tuesday, February 07, 2017 Unknown 0 Comments

Hey Guys! Today I have some new shades from Glam Polish to show you! These are the Glam Polish Fans Heroes vs. Villains Group Exclusive Duo shades this month and they're called He Who Must Not Be Named and The Boy Who Lived. If you don't know the theme of this by now then I'm gonna need to revoke your nerd card you muggle! For all you who haven't figured it out yet (but seriously, if you didn't then I am very, very disappointed in you), the theme this month is Harry Potter vs. Voldemort!

He Who Must Not Be Named is a blackened blue jelly with green and blue iridescent flakies, shifting metallic flakies, and a fine holo microglitter. I'm a bit ashamed to admit that this one is my favorite out of the duo simply because it feels like a betrayal. But there it is. I choose Voldy over Harry. lol This polish has a great formula and glides on silky smooth. I did three thin layers, but you could achieve opacity in two layers depending on your application. Shown below is three coats with a glossy top coat.

The Boy Who Lived is a garnet jelly with gold iridescent flakies, shifting metallic flakes, color shifting iridescent glitter, and fine holographic microglitter. This red definitely reminds me of both Gryffindor and blood (kinda morbid, sorry!). It's a beautiful shade of red though that I believe will compliment any skin tone. This one applied silky smooth too and had nice opacity. I again did three thin coats, but this could be a two coater depending on your application. Shown below is three coats with a glossy top coat.

These are currently available on the Glam Polish website, but you'll need the special code from the Glam Polish Fans group to bring the price down to the correct price! What do you think of these? Did they do a good job depicting Harry vs. Voldemort? Let me know what you think in the comments!

Ever After ♥ Tonic Polish Valentine's Day Quartet

Thursday, February 02, 2017 Unknown 0 Comments

Hey y'all! I've got the Ever After ♥ Tonic Polish 2017 Valentine's Day Quartet to show you! So I'm pretty excited about this quartet! I'm a big fan of Tonic, but I have to confess that these are my first Ever After polishes. (Spoiler alert: they were amazing and I'm definitely a new fan!) Anyway, let's get on to the swatches!

4 Ever is a creamy wisteria purple with a strong aqua shimmer and a hint of scattered holographic sparkle. Tonic formulas are on the thick side, but I had no real issues with actual application. My first coat was a bit patchy which I'm chalking up to user error from trying to do too thin of a coat (I like working in really thin ones...). I did my second coat a bit thicker and it evened out perfectly. Fully opaque in two coats. Shown below is two coats with a glossy topcoat.

Sweet Pea is a creamy sage/pea green with a strong pink/peach/lemon yellow shifting shimmer and a touch of scattered holographic sparkle. When I first saw this green I was a little worried because it's in the shade family of greens (those olives and yellowish greens) that are really iffy on whether or not they'll look good on me, but it's gorgeous and played well with my skin tone. No issues with application on this one either. Like other Tonics the formula for this one is on the thick side, but applies well. Fully opaque in two coats. Shown below is two coats with a glossy top coat.

*Disclaimer* The macro shot for this polish is slightly inaccurate. For some reason the lighting kept washing this one out in the macro shot so I did do some color correcting. That was as close to accurate as I could get. It's very close, just still a bit washed out.

Kiss Me is a berry shifting chrome with a strong scattered holo and gold holo glitters. This is a gorgeous polish that seems to shift through so many variations of purple/berry/fuchsia. The formula on these are a bit on the thinner side, so you'll want to be careful to avoid flooding (especially if you're like me and your nails are tiny). Applied beautifully and built to full opacity in two coats. Shown below is two coats with a glossy top coat.

Purr-fect is a pale lavender purple to green multichrome with gray undertones and a holographic sparkle. This polish is freaking gorgeous. Please believe me when I say that my photos come nowhere near of doing it justice. I tried. I tried hard, they just don't. I personally think that this color seemed to show more of the green side to it than the purple, but that honestly could have just been the lighting in my room. The formula on this one is a bit on the thinner side too, so make sure that you don't have too much polish on your brush to avoid flooding. This did build to full opacity in two coats, but I did three to make sure there was no sneaky visible nail line in photos. I also think that adding a third coat gave the color a bit more depth. Shown below is three thin coats with a glossy top coat.

So that's it! Those are the Valentine's Day Quartet polishes! Aren't they all beautiful?! I have to say, I was impressed with all of them. The Tonics were everything I expected from them and more and the Ever Afters definitely left an amazing first impression on me. I'll be grabbing more from them in the future!

Alright, let's talk release details. This goes on sale tomorrow, February 3rd, and will only be available through the Ever After shop. The quartet costs $40 plus shipping and will have 40 sets available for immediate shipping and then it will switch over to a pre-order for three days.
